What It Is

A bracket bolted to the pole that holds the strand clamp out from the pole face. The design calls for one where the strand needs extra horizontal clearance: from a building or tree, around other hardware, or at some corners.

Why It Matters

An extension arm can solve a clearance problem without a new pole or rearranging other attachers, where the owner allows it. It also changes how the load reaches the pole, so it is placed by design, not improvised.

Materials and Specs

Galvanized extension arm or standoff bracket of the type the owner approves
Through-bolt and hardware per owner standard

Inspect For

Arm type and position match the design
Strand clamp secure on the arm
Arm does not block the climbing space or another attacher (NESC; owner spec)

Common Mistakes

Using an arm the pole owner does not allow
Adding an arm in the field to fix a clearance problem without engineering
Mounting the arm on the wrong side of the pole
