About FAHMY
Understand. Build. Deliver.
Mission
FAHMY serves as a hub for Outside Plant (OSP) Construction and Engineering. A repository for how outside plant is planned, designed, permitted, constructed, spliced, tested, and closed out. Resources are provided to streamline daily workflows of crews and engineers.
Understand the route before anyone draws a line. Build safely to spec. Deliver assets tested with records that match the field. Understand. Build. Deliver. Those three words are also the three acts of the FAHMY project lifecycle.
Who It Is For
- Engineers and Designers:
- Check standards, run loss budgets and duct fill, look up symbols, explain a design to the crew.
- Foremen and Crew Leads:
- Follow the aerial and underground steps alongside owner specifications and employer procedures, run tailboards, respect hold points, plan pulls.
- Splicers and Testers:
- Find fiber colors fast, follow the splicing steps alongside the owner’s spec, average OTDR readings, document results.
- Inspectors and Project Managers:
- Know what done right looks like in typical practice (the owner’s spec decides acceptance), use the checklists, track close-out records.
- New Hires and Students:
- Learn every component on the map and the order of the build.
How the Content Is Checked
FAHMY's rule is simple: no number without a source or a flag. Technical values in SOPs, map pages and reference carry their status, shown when you hover, focus or tap it:
- Cited. The value comes from a named source: a regulation, a code, a standard or an industry guideline. The source is one tap away.
- Needs SME check. A common value that a subject-matter expert has not yet confirmed for FAHMY. It is marked with a dotted underline until the review is done.
- Per owner spec. The value depends on the owner, the permit or the state, so FAHMY points you to the document that sets it instead of guessing.
Safety content names the rule that governs it, such as OSHA, the NESC, the MUTCD or the state one-call law. New or changed content shows a Pending SME review badge until a subject-matter expert has checked it.
The field tools label their starting values Planning assumption, Planning default or Example. If you find a value without a status, please report it.
Install and Offline Use
FAHMY installs like an app on phones and computers, and it works offline after your first visit. How to install FAHMY.
Offline data: unknown
Browsers can clear a website's saved copy when the device runs low on space. Installing FAHMY as an app makes that less likely. How to install FAHMY

Why Orange?
Orange is the APWA color for communication lines. It is the color of what we build. See the full APWA color code.
