How to Use This Sheet

The bill of materials (BOM) is issued with the prints. At closeout, the installed quantities on this sheet are what the owner checks before final payment, so they have to match the field.

Fill It In

  • Copy the item codes, descriptions, units and design quantities from the owner’s BOM. Use the owner’s unit of measure on every line so the totals add up.
  • Take installed quantities from the field: footage marks, bore logs, redlines and daily reports. Never copy the design quantity into the installed column.
  • Explain every difference in the notes column: a reroute, an extra pole, a change order. An unexplained difference is the line the owner holds.
  • Fill one sheet per area or segment when the job is large, so each sheet lines up with one set of as-builts.

Spreadsheet Version

Download the CSV file from the link above the sheet to keep the BOM in a spreadsheet. It holds only the column headings, so you add the rows.
